The History of Gourmet Popcorn Tins

The History of Popcorn

Gourmet popcorn tins may not have been around 4,000 years ago, but popcorn was. It’s believed that Native Americans discovered popcorn by throwing corn into fire and watching it pop. When the American colonists came, the Native Americans introduced them to popcorn and it is believed that the Americans actually mixed popcorn with milk for breakfast. While we may not eat popcorn for breakfast, at least not often, what’s true then is true now and that is that popcorn is delicious. So tasty in fact, that our customers love giving the gift of gourmet popcorn tins and buying tins for themselves too.

The wonderful taste of popcorn helped it grow in popularity through the centuries. By the mid-1800s, farmers had started planting corn in mass quantities and more and more people were beginning to pop their corn. We all now think of popcorn with entertainment and that phenomenon started right before the turn of the century. In the late 1800s, carnivals and circuses began selling popcorn to their patrons. People loved their popcorn and vendors on the street started selling popcorn too.

By the time movies became popular, people were buying popcorn from vendors in the street and taking their treat into the cinema to see their favorite film. It wasn’t long from then that theater owners caught on and began serving popcorn inside. People still love getting their popcorn at the theater, but they aren’t limited to purchasing popcorn there anymore. People buy popcorn tins as gifts or just delicious treats for themselves. Anyone can enjoy this timeless treat and now with flavors that couldn’t have been imagined more than 4,000 years ago when people first discovered the delicious treat of popcorn.
